Glitterhouse Records in safe harbor; Indigo acquires long-standing indie label

posted at 09/25/2017

There were rumours for some time, now it is official: German independent label Glitterhouse Records is taken over by Indigo Musikproduktion + Vertrieb GmbH distribution-company situated in Hamburg. Negotiations between Glitterhouse and Indigo took place since the beginning of 2017. Both partners are glad to announce that the results of these negotiations are more than just satisfactory.

As the majority shareholder of the newly founded Glitterhouse Records GmbH, Indigo will take over the rights for the label and the Glitterhouse Mailorder as of January 1, 2018, as well as participate in the "Orange Blossom Special" Festival. Indigo is a business partner of Glitterhouse since 2001. There has been a close business- and familiar relationship between both partners for years. After recent years at Glitterhouse saw some restructuring, Peter Weber, owner of Glitterhouse Projects GmbH & Co.KG, is glad to see the company in a safe harbor now: "What belongs together is now growing together – it feels like we have always known the protagonists at Indigo, we always appreciated them being our business partners and as friends". Rembert Stiewe, A&R and co-founder of Glitterhouse as well as Lutz Mastmeyer, A&R and Head of Intl. Glitterhouse, added: "There is great confidence on both sides. Under the protective shield of Indigo, we will accelerate the development of our existing artist roster and will be presenting exciting new additions to the label."

For Indigo Musikproduktion + Vertrieb GmbH, this takeover is a further step towards an independent future. Since an own digital distribution and a new marketing department have already been established in recent years, the takeover of the Glitterhouse licenses and the mailorder-department means a broader set-up of the business model and a improvement of the company's independence. "The market has changed a lot lately and many consolidations are taking place. Indigo will remain fully independent, fair and transparent. This way we have gained a lot of confidence from our partners, which has also influenced the discussions with Glitterhouse," explains Jörn Heinecker, Managing Director of Indigo. In addition, he adds: "From a business point of view, the Glitterhouse rights secures us market shares and the mailorder new options. This is also due to interpersonal factors which are based on the long, trustworthy cooperation between the two companies."

Glitterhouse Records, the Glitterhouse-mailorder and the Orange Blossom Special Festival will remain at the headquarters in Beverungen, a large part of the employees will continue to work from there. Together, Indigo and Glitterhouse will work on upcoming releases by e.g. David Eugene Edwards and Alexander Hacke, DIE NERVEN and Wovenhand, and the mailorder will be integrated into the Indigo processes.
