| BLAUDZUN COMPOSES TITLE TRACK FOR LE TOUR DE FRANCE 2015

posted at 07/14/2014

On Saturday July 4th 2015 the start of the Tour de France will take place in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Dutch indierock singer and songwriter Blaudzun has the honor to compose the official anthem for this event named 'Le Tour Utrecht' merging his emotions about music, cycling and the city.

Utrecht based Blaudzun, real name Johannes Sigmond, has a close connection to the city. In March he presented his new album 'Promises of No Man's Land' in the renowned pop-venue Tivoli during two sold-out shows. The album reached #1 in the Dutch album charts and has also been released in several European countries. Blaudzun recently played big outdoor festivals like Hurricane and Southside in Germany and Bravalla festival in Sweden.

Blaudzun has a deep love for cycling and is also an active recreational bike racer. He directed an internationally acclaimed documentary film about the season's closing classic 'Giro di Lombardia' (http://www.illombardia.com/) for which Blaudzun also composed the film score.

In June Blaudzun and his brother and guitarist Jakob Sigmond teamed up with the professional bicycle team of Belkin. The Belkin team, headed by Bauke Mollema, was preparing for this year's Tour de France in the Spanish Sierra Nevada. German pro's John Degenkolb (Team Giant Shimano) and his teammate sprinting ace Marcel Kittel also joined their training sessions.

The song for 'Le Tour Utrecht' will be presented during the course-presentation in Paris on October 22nd. It will be embedded in a new short movie about the city of the Grand Départ 2015.
Blaudzun's actual single in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is called 'Too Many Hopes for July' http://tinyurl.com/qgqba4d

This summer Blaudzun and his 7 piece band will play at festivals in Elend bei Sorge, Raversbeuren and Nurnberg, before returning the Fall in Bonn, Hannover, Hamburg and Berlin.
